FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS FOR SEASON PASSES
TO DEER CREEK HILLS OAK WOODLAND PRESERVE AND WORKING RANCH
- When do Season Passes go on sale?
- Season Passes are available for purchase at any time and are good for one full year from their date of purchase.
- Can I give a Season Pass as a gift?
- By all means, Season Passes make great gifts for friends and family who enjoy the outdoors.
- How much does a Season Pass cost and are there any additional fees?
- A Season Pass costs $40.00 and does not require any other fees to be paid by the individual Pass holder. This is an exceptionally good value if you plan to participate in more than one type of outing, since registration is $10 per outing and $20.00 for equestrian events. Outings may be hiking, mountain biking or equestrian, depending on the time of year.
- Is the Season Pass good for more than one person, i.e., family members?
- Each Season Pass is good for only one person. However, children ages 15 and younger are always free and can accompany an adult season pass holder on outings/events.
- How many children can one adult season pass holder bring to an outing/event?
- We try to keep the ratio of 1 adult to every 4 children. If your group may be larger than that, we recommend contacting Gina Silvernale, our outreach coordinator, at 916-612-3719 or outreach@sacramentovalleyconservancy.org about the size of the group and she can either help arrange for additional docents as needed or will discuss if a special day could be arranged for your group instead.
- What outings/events would the Season Pass cover?
- With the exception of the annual SVC fundraiser celebration “Treasures of the Valley” held each October, the Season Pass is good for all outings. Docent led hiking/equestrian trips are offered during the months of February to May and mountain biking trips during June to October. The self-led hiking trail is open every Saturday, February-November.
- Are Season Pass holders required to register for outings/events?
- Yes, because events have limited capacity, even as a Season Pass holder you should register and reserve a spot for each outing/event you wish to attend.
- Can I, as a Season Pass holder, bring guests or a group to an outing?
- Each guest you may want to bring would need to register and reserve a space for themselves for each outing/event. If you would like to bring a group to an outing contact Gina Silvernale, our outreach coordinator, at 916-612-3719 or outreach@sacramentovalleyconservancy.org about the size of the group and she can either help arrange for additional docents as needed or a special day could be arranged for your group instead.
- With a Season Pass, can I lead a hiking or mountain biking trip myself?
- No, but if you would like to become a docent, you could then help lead a group hike or mountain biking trip. For information on becoming a docent, we encourage interested individuals to contact our outreach coordinator, Gina Silvernale at 916-612-3719 or outreach@sacramentovalleyconservancy.org.
- Can I access the Deer Creek Hills Preserve with my Season Pass at any time?
- Currently, access is limited to when we have docents or staff present, which is every Saturday, February to November, for the self-guided hiking trail, 4th Saturday special docent-led hikes on other parts of the Preserve from February to May, 4th Sunday docent-led equestrian rides from February to April, and 4th Saturday docent-led mountain bike tours from June-October. Other events include our Cowboy Breakfast, Hike and Equestrian Ride the first Saturday in May. Updated calendar information always can be found on our website. You can sign up for Enews announcements of upcoming events by typing in your email to the “subscribe” box at www.sacramentovalleyconservancy.org on our home page.
